Target group
Advanced students and experienced film composers.Course Description
In this course, you will have the unique opportunity to learn from some of the most in-demand personalities in the film-music industry and take your skills to the next level! Learn how to professionally present yourself as a film composer (pitching), handle feedback, work successfully in a team, and communicate your musical ideas clearly and creatively to musicians. Additionally, you will receive valuable tips on organizing recording sessions and how to network in the film business– and this is just a tiny part of what you will learn and deepen here!You will work in the state-of-the-art studios at mdw and record your music professionally with fantastic musicians and sound engineers. You will also have the chance to build valuable connections with music and media experts from Red Bull Media House, internationally awarded music supervisors for prime-time productions and advertising campaigns, and other industry insiders.
Before the course begins, you will receive film clips and a spotting session to prepare. Bring your nearly finished film score with you – as it will even be recorded at the end of the course! A jury of industry professionals will select the best composition, and the winner will receive a free course participation – the course fees will be refunded.

Workshops, Lectures and Coaching sessions
Alongside the master classes given by well-known, leading artistic personalities, isa also offers participants additional learning opportunities in the form of workshops, lectures, and coaching sessions.
All supplementary workshops and lectures are accessible only in combination with a master class and are included in the course fee. -
Application and Application Requirements
Application deadline: January 2 to March 2, 2025
Requirements:
- A high artistic level is required for participation.
- A short video or written self-presentation (upload as a video link or in written form as a PDF) must be sent to isa-music@mdw.ac.at by no later than March 2.
- Composition demo recordings with a total duration of 5 minutes (these can include short excerpts or complete works)

Fees
Application fee: € 195

Participation in workshops and lectures
Free admission to selected concerts of the isaFestival.The application fee must be paid online or via bank transfer no later than March 2, 2025.
The course fee must be paid by July 1, 2025, after receiving confirmation of participation.From July 1, 2025 the course fee can only be reimbursed in proven cases of force majeure (e.g. illness, accident, death in the family, etc.). In no case will the registration fee be refunded.
