  • Course

    1. When exactly do the Masterclasses take place?
    The courses begin on Monday, July 21, 2025, and end on Saturday, August 2, 2025.

    2. Where is the isa held?
    The isa takes place in Vienna – specifically on the campus of the mdw, the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, located at Anton-von-Webern-Platz 1 in the 3rd district.

    3. How many lessons will I get?
    Typically, each participant will receive three 45-minute lessons per week.

    4. How much repertoire should I prepare?
    This depends on your individual goals. Some participants use the course to prepare for competitions or auditions, while others focus on learning new techniques or refining their interpretations. We recommend preparing at least three pieces, especially since you’ll have the opportunity to perform in concerts.

  • Registration

    1. How can I register for the Masterclasses?
    Simply online via our website! The registration period runs from January 2 to April 15, 2025.

    2. Are only video recordings accepted?
    Yes, we only accept video recordings. You can add the video links directly to the registration form.

    3. Can I register for just one week?
    Yes, of course! Select the week that works best for you in the registration form. But two weeks give you twice as many opportunities to learn new things, make exciting connections, and have amazing experiences. If you can, stay for both weeks – it’s totally worth it!

    4. When will I find out if I can participate?
    By the end of April 2025, you’ll receive an email from us with the results.

  • Fees

    1. When do I need to pay the fees?
    The registration fee must be paid by April 15, 2025, at the latest. The course fee must be paid by July 1, 2025, after receiving confirmation of your participation.

    2. How can I pay for the courses?
    You can pay the registration fee online immediately after registration. Bank transfer is also possible. Course fees must be paid exclusively by bank transfer to the account provided.

    3. Are the workshops included?
    Yes, all additional offerings, such as workshops, are already included in the course fee.

    4. Will I get my money back if I receive a rejection?
    We can refund the registration fee only if your application is rejected by the isa – International Summer Academy.
    Starting July 1, 2025, the course fee can only be refunded in cases of force majeure with proper documentation.

  • Workshops

    1. Do I have to pay extra for the workshops?
    No, all workshops are included in the course fee and can only be attended with a Masterclass.

    2. How many workshops can I attend?
    Each participant can decide how many workshops they want to attend. You can find detailed information about the intensity and duration of each workshop on our website. All workshop details will be published by March.

    3. How can I register for the workshops?
    Registration is possible starting in April after you’ve received a confirmation of participation from us. We will send you the registration link via email.

  • Festival

     1. What is the isaFestival?
    The isaFestival is a presentation platform that offers participants the chance to play publicly in concerts. A high standard of artistic quality (suited to performing professionally in public) is required.

     2. In how many public concerts may I perform?
    The isaFestival is planned so that each participant gets at least one chance to perform in a concert.

     3. When will I learn which concert I’ll be able to play in?
    The programme of each concert is finalised one day in advance. Participants may register with appropriate works, but only after they have received approval from their professors. The artistic director is responsible for final selections and decisions on performances.

  • Travel and Accommodation

    1. What are the exact travel dates?
    Arrival and departure days are always Sundays:
    For the two-week course: July 20 – August 3
    For the one-week course: July 20 – July 27 / July 27 – August 3
    Exception: Masterclass for Film Music Scoring & Production: July 27 – August 2

    2. Who organizes my travel and accommodation?
    You are responsible for organizing and paying for your own travel to Vienna and your accommodation.

    3. I am traveling from abroad – what is the best way to get to Vienna?
    We are committed to sustainability and aim to organize this event according to the Austrian Ecolabel for Green Meetings. To support resource conservation, climate protection, and regional value creation, we strongly recommend traveling by train whenever possible.
    isa has partnered with ÖBB (Austrian Railways) to offer isa participants a discount of up to 22% on train tickets! You will receive all details with the official course invitation via email.

    4. How do I get to the course venue?
    The mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (Anton-von-Webern-Platz 1, 1030 Vienna) is centrally located and easily accessible by public transport:
    It takes less than 30 minutes to reach from Vienna International Airport or the main train stations.
    Recommended connections:
    S-Bahn: Wien Mitte
    U-Bahn: U3 (Landstraße), U4 (Stadtpark or Landstraße)
    Tram: Line 0 (Ungargasse/Neulinggasse)
    There is a WienMobil bike station right in front of the campus, and bicycle parking is available at the building.

    5. Does isa provide hotel recommendations?
    Yes! If possible, we encourage you to choose an eco-certified hotel. We have partnered with several hotels near the campus to offer special deals. You will receive all details and promo codes with the official course invitation via email.

    6. How much do the recommended hotels cost?
    The price per person per night ranges from €50 to €130.
